Viet Nam Pepper Export Industry Conference 2016, the precursor to the now-established Vietnam Pepper and Spice Outlook (VIPO), was held at the Novotel Phú Quốc from November 16th to 19th, 2016. This event brought together over 200 delegates from both domestic and international markets, alongside 8 exhibitors, to address the key issues facing Vietnam's pepper industry and explore sustainable solutions for its future.

Key Highlights of VIPO 2016:

Sustainability in Pepper Production: Discussions focused on the need for sustainable pepper production in Vietnam, addressing challenges such as environmental impact, resource management, and ensuring long-term productivity.

• Development Priorities for Vietnam’s Spice Industry: Experts highlighted key priorities for the sustainable development of Vietnam's spice industry, with an emphasis on improving practices, boosting local industry capacities, and increasing exports.

• Export and Import Issues: The conference also addressed challenges in pepper exports and imports, discussing market access, international regulations, and the fluctuating global demand for Vietnamese pepper.

• Industry Challenges & Actions: Focused on difficulties in the pepper industry and actionable strategies for growth, including investments in farming techniques, training for farmers, and the creation of a more robust industry framework to enhance Vietnam’s competitiveness in the global market.

Farm Visit: Delegates visited a pepper farm on Phú Quốc Island, gaining a firsthand view of the challenges and opportunities faced by local pepper farmers.
